‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Five Fun Facts

1. Many of the titles for “Grey’s Anatomy” episodes are also song titles, such as “Poker Face” (Lady Gaga) Season 8, “Shake your Groove Thing” (Peaches and Herb ) from Season 6 and “The First Cut is the Deepest” (Cat Stevens/Rod Stewart) from Season 1.

2. Patrick Dempsey plays the character of Dr. Derek Shepherd on “Grey’s,” i.e. McDreamy, whose favorite band happens to be “The Clash.” This information can be found on a DVD for Season 4 of “Grey’s.” This seems like an interesting choice for a character who likes to do things his own way at Seattle Grace, no matter what he is told.

3. Ellis Grey, Meredith’s mother who had Alzheimer’s, was played by actress Kate Burton. She is the daughter of actor Richard Burton and the step-daughter of actress Elizabeth Taylor. She has also had many guest starring roles on shows such as “All my Children,” “Law and Order,” “Judging Amy” and many other popular, dramatic television series.

4. “Grey’s Anatomy” can not only be seen in the United States, but also in Serbia, Saudi Arabia, Estonia, Albania and France. Guess things can get McSteamy and McDreamy anywhere.

5. “My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance” – what does that have to do with the “Grey’s Anatomy” cast? When I saw Joe the bartender, played by Steven W. Bailey, I could not believe he was that guy from that show. The premise was an odd one – he had to get a woman to marry him, all the while being horrible to her and everyone else, and get her family to come to the wedding, even though the family despised him and did not understand why she would marry him.
Bailey does a good job portraying a gay, bartender on “Grey’s” who listens to all the problems the doc’s need to spill. Guess he has a pretty wide acting range.
