Green Living: Easy Mason Jar Soap Dispenser Instructions

Add a touch of country to your home with an easy to make mason jar soap dispenser. A large variety of old and antique mason jars can be found at flea markets, garage sales and auctions. The key is locating a mason jar that will accommodate a zinc lid. The stability of the zinc lid is required to hold the soap pump in place firmly.

Before selecting a mason jar, measure the distance from the top to the bottom of the jar. Locate and purchase a soap pump that extends the measured length.

Things You’ll Need:

Mason Jar
Zinc lid
Pencil
Ruler
Masking tape
Soap pump
Drill
½-inch drill bit
Liquid soap

Instructions:

Step 1 – Locate and mark the center of the zinc lid.

Step 2 – Slowly drill a hole at the mark with a ½-inch drill bit. The inside of the zinc lid has a ceramic liner. Help to prevent cracking by covering the liner with masking tape. Remove the masking tape when drilling is complete.

Step 3 – Insert the soap pump in the lid and secure.

Step 4 – Pour liquid soap into the mason jar and close the lid.

Decorate around the rim of the lid with items such as ribbon, raffia, lace, jute, twine or hemp. Paint a design on the lid using acrylic paint.
