Following God’s Leading (Part One)

One of the reasons why many Christians are stranded today is because they’ve spent all their life following their mind. They go after what they think is right; they start a business they think is profitable; they seek a Job they think will pay them more; and they make decisions they consider best for them.

In all this, they never ask themselves “What is God saying about this?”
Friend, God knows everything. He knows the end of a path before you begin walking in it. He knows the consequences of your decisions before you take them. He knows the business that will fetch you the most profit and make you wealthy. He also knows the business that will drain you and run you into thousands or millions of dollars in debt. He knows the job that will make you rich and prosper you. He also knows the job that will make you end up jobless. He knows the investments that will cost you a fortune and drain you of all the financial resources you have. He also knows the investments and business deals that will make you so much money and turn you into a multi-billionaire. God simply knows ALL THINGS!

If only you can just take some time to ask yourself one simple question before you take that step. A question as simple as “What is God saying?”
Psalm 23:1 says “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.” When you get to the point where God is truly your shepherd, you consult Him on everything you do. Not only do you consult Him in all you do, you also follow everything He says. If God says “Start this business”, you start it (irrespective of how unprofitable it may look to you). If God says “Don’t start that business”, you stay away from it (irrespective of how profitable it may look and how many of your friends made money in that business).
When you allow God become your shepherd and you’re an obedient sheep, God will lead you to the place of prosperity. He will lead you to the right business or investment that will prosper you beyond your wildest imagination. Psalm 23:2 says “He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet water”

In other words, when God becomes your shepherd and you are committed to following His leading, He leads you into a place or position of abundance (green pastures) and peace (quiet water). There are so many wealthy folks today who don’t have peace and rest of mind. In fact, some of them are ready to give all they have just to get peace. But for those who access wealth by the leading of God, they experience peace that passes all understanding.

Let me end with this true story. A renowned pastor was travelling on a flight and God told him to look down from the aircraft. When he did, he saw a swampy piece of land from afar off. It was the kind of land that no one would want to buy because it was useless for both real estate and agriculture. God then told him to buy it and the man did so, without the slightest idea of what to do with this land. After a while, Oil was discovered on this same land God asked this pastor to buy. That opened him up to an unusual dimension of wealth.

Friend, many people have missed opportunities that would have made them so wealthy. Many have made decisions that have plunged them into debt and bankruptcy. However, when God becomes your shepherd and you become His “addicted” sheep, you position your life for abundance.
All you need to do before you take that step or make that decision is to simply ask yourself the question: “What is God saying about this?”
