The Farmer’s Market in Kansas City

Located at The City Market on 20 E. 5th Street in Kansas City, is the largest farmer’s market in the region. Rain or shine it is open during the winter months every Saturday from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm, and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., to offer the finest produce, fresh from Missouri and the surrounding regions. With more than 140 vendor stalls bursting with bedding plants, fruits, vegetables, herbs, fresh baked goods and other sweets, cut flowers and crafts made by local artisans you’ll surely find something delightful for one of the senses. Currently, the produce that is in season in the area and at the market are turnips, broccoli, winter squash, spinach, sweat potatoes, pumpkins, potatoes, and popcorn.

The City Market also has restaurants and stores that sell many varieties of ethnic food, such as, German, Korean, Vietnamese, and Italian. Besides good food, the City Market has live entertainment and museums, which you can visit to enhance your cultural experience.

McGonigles Market

McGonigles Market is located at 79th street and Ward Parkway in Kansas City, MO. They are famous for providing Kansas City the highest quality meat since 1951. Shatto Milk Company

Shatto Milk Company is a local diary farm located in Osborn, MO near St. Joseph, which offers milk and other local products and produce at their Country Store all year round. The Shatto dairy farm was started in early 1800’s by Minnie and George Winstead, who bought the farm after they were married. The farm remained a small diary farm until 2003, when Leroy and Barbara Shatto started bottling their own milk and distributing to local grocery stores in St. Joseph and Kansas City. This endeavor saved their farm and brought local fresh milk to the residents of the area. A wonderful place to visit to buy some milk, or schedule a tour of the dairy farm, which is a great learning experience for kids!
