Extreme Couponing: Shopping Day!

I could not believe I was able to pull off this shopping trip and actually saved more money than I paid for the entire cart full of groceries. I do have to say this has definitely gotten my adrenaline running and I am hooked. Couponing is definitely an addiction.

So, after spending more than one hour yesterday, checking the Publix ad, comparing my coupons and calculating the best possible savings I could get, I finally made my way to the store. I spent almost an hour at the store, wandering up and down each aisle, picking up my items and calculating any additional deals I could go back for later. By the time I was done I had a cart full of more than $120 in groceries and at check out paid only $58.13. I had a total savings of $62.63! That is more than I spent! It was a 52 percent savings, just by using coupons with in-store specials. Wow! I could not believe it.

My total haul:

4 boxes of frozen vegetables (BOGO + coupon) 2 Banquet Chicken (BOGO + 2 coupons) 6 Hamburger Helper (BOGO + coupons) 12 boxes of pasta (BOGO + coupons + buy pasta sauce get pasta free) 6 jars of pasta (BOGO + coupons) Plus other household necessities that I did have misc. coupons for, such as eggs, bread, ketchup, yogurt, raviolis and bananas.

However, this is just the beginning. The new ads for next week come out today and I will be picking up a copy of the newspaper to start comparing and making my new list for my Friday shopping adventures. Hopefully I will be able to reach my goal of saving $1,000 off my grocery bill this month…only $937 more dollars to save!

Happy couponing!
