Expecting the Unexpected on Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is said to be the most romantic day of the year, the day where couples come together and express their love to one another either through gifts, or a special night out on the town. I always have loved Valentine’s Day because I am a hard core romantic; I am someone who believes in a prince charming and the wonderful happy ending. However, up until last year I had never really spent Valentine’s Day with a boyfriend, because I wanted to wait for the right guy to spend that special day with.

Finally last year 2010, I had met the perfect guy, he was and still is my prince charming, he is what every girl looks for in a guy, the one who opens the door, goes out of his way to tell me how much he cares about me, makes me feel like the only girl in the room. Naturally I figured that Valentine’s Day with him would be the most magical day that I have ever experienced in my life, if he was this perfect everyday than he of course would be even more perfect on this day that I had built up in my mind to be the best day ever for couples in love.

Valentine’s Day was not the day I had thought of and built up in my mind. Joshua (my prince charming) had planned out this magical day for me because he knew how much it meant to me. We both took off work so that we could spend the entire day together. He came over first thing in the morning with my favorite white chocolate mocha and coffee cake from Starbucks, and I cannot forget the dozen roses he also brought. I thought wow this day is turning out to be the most magical day after all.

Although, the morning was complete bliss it went downhill from there. Living in Florida at the time he took me to the beach for the day, on the way we got a flat tire, he did his best to change it himself but some of the bolts would just not give so we had to call triple A for some help. The guy who got there was a little different to say the least, he hit on my boyfriend and me. Finally, after an hour of awkwardly talking, we were on the road again. We got to the beach and low and behold there was a wedding going on at the beach, now most people would have left but Joshua is definitely not most people. He decided that we should crash the wedding, so we stood in the back during the ceremony, and then went to the reception after, the bride and groom were so nice that they did not want to look rude by not knowing us so they pretended that they knew who we were. We actually got into some wedding photos; Joshua gave a speech to the lovely couple. Best of all we got along with the couple so well we keep in contact with them and are quite good friends now.

Valentine’s Day was not the day that I had imagined but it turned out to be so much better than I had thought. Crashing a wedding is a must do for everyone, because you never know what you will get into.
