Big Game for Notre Dame Football This Week

This Saturday in Ann Arbor, Michigan will be the biggest game of Brian Kelly’s career. He has won championships at the lower level of college football and had some dominating years at Cincinnati, but this Saturday he will have a make or break game. This is not only true for this year’s team, but for his career at Notre Dame as well.

This game will go a long way to determining if ND is on the way back or if a setback like last week just throws the team into a losing tailspin that they cannot recover from.

Brian Kelly has done some great things at ND since arriving, but without actually winning big, it will not mean as much. I think going with Rees is the right thing for the team at this time. I just do not see why Kelly could not see that before the USF game.

Kelly has a lot on the line. Recruiting is at stake. A lot of kids want to see if Kelly and Notre Dame is for real, and rightly or wrongly, they will want to see how ND reacts in a hostile environment against a team with something to prove. If they fair poorly, mass defections could occur in the following weeks.

I believe Brian Kelly has what it takes to succeed at Notre Dame and will defeat Michigan this weekend. He made the tough decision to change quarterbacks last week and then to stick with Tommy Rees for the upcoming game. The offense seems to run better under Rees and Notre Dame should score on Michigan at will as their defense is, to be nice, not very good.

The Notre Dame defense on the other hand will have to stop Denard Robinson who ran for 258 yards against ND last year. I believe the defense will be up to the challenge and they will win the biggest game of Brian Kelly’s career.

Then next week they will have to win the biggest game of his career against Michigan State. That is how it goes at Notre Dame.
