Best Video Game Releases of 2011

Alright, let’s face it. 2011 has definitely been one, if not the, best year for gaming in a long time. Huge sequels were released this year, with some of them being Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, and The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim. Those were just 3, and were personally my favorite. Well, if I had to choose only 1 out of those 3, i would probably go mad. But in the end i’m pretty sure i would go for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

You can’t really compare it with The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim, because Modern Warfare is based in the future with all those advanced guns, air strikes, heavy artillery etc. Skyrim is set in a time and fictional land where there are dragons, giants and other mythical beasts patrolling the lands. The one thing i do like about Skyrim though is that you can choose what YOU want to be. You can be a thief, assassin, wizard, warrior etc. While in Modern Warfare, well, all you can do is kill people using a gun. As i mentioned earlier i would choose Modern Warfare 3 out of those 3 games. If it was between Battlefield and Skyrim i would definitely choose Skyrim. Battlefield is a game where you rely on your team mates when playing online/multiplayer. Modern Warfare 3 is funner when playing online because it’s YOU who can either cause your team to win or lose. Skyrim, well, there’s no online gaming in Skyrim, but there doesn’t need to be. In my opinion its the best offline game ever created. You’ll always find something to do, even when you feel like you have done it all.

Then there comes the storyline. What did most people first think when Modern Warfare 3 was first announced? ‘Yes! Epic multiplayer and quick scoping is back!’. What did i think? ‘Modern Warfare 2 was a great game, great storyline, great multiplayer, nice to see a sequel!’ The storyline was something i was highly anticipating ever since they announced the release date for Modern Warfare 3. Battlefield, i’m pretty sure most people will agree with me that the Modern Warfare storyline is alot better than the Battlefield storyline. For example, you gave been playing with the same characters for the past three games, (spoiler alert for MW3) and one of them tragically dies, upsetting many players. In the Battlefield series you play with different characters each game.

Well that’s basically it. My favorite game of 2011 is Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 3, for obvious reasons i stated above. My second favorite is Skyrim, and lastly Battlefield 3. If i had to recommend one of these games, i would recommend Modern Warfare 3 but only if you have played the last 2 games. If not then Skyrim.
