August Musings

It seems that summer bears down hard
before it goes away;
The white, hot days of August come
and we forget last May.
How glad we were to see the sun
and flowers poking thru;
But now, the heat oppressing makes us
long for something new.
A cooler breeze, a sweeter night,
not tossing to and fro.
With sticky sheets and pillowcases,
You forget the snow!
The frigid wind that cuts your face,
the freezing sleet and ice;
The cold, hard floors and your bare feet,
These reminders will suffice.
It seems that people never know
their blessings till they’re gone;
The warming heat, the cooling snow:
Verses in Life’s Song!
