Help! I have some sort of hair infestation, how do I get rid of it?
Q: I’ve fairly recently returned home after travelling abroad (China) and have realised I’ve been infested with some sort of bug. Symptoms: Its mostly in the hair on my head, but also in my leg hair and pubic hair. The bugs only seem to come alive at night; it doesn’t feel itchy during the day and I don’t have any bite marks. The problem is I have never actually seen any of the bugs, even when I’m looking straight at the part that is itching and can see the hair itself move.(so it took me a while to realise it really was some sort of bug and not just me going insane.) I’m guessing it feels kind of like fleas.Stuff I have already tried:Obviously I wash everyday and have tried soaking myself in very hot baths. I have tried lice treatment, flea shampoo from the pet shop, washing my hair in vinegar (as I heard this might work), even shaving my hair to grade 1.Its been at least 3 months and nothing seems to work! I’m desperate to avoid going to a doctor, or even speaking to the local chemist, as it is far too embarrassing. How can I get rid of this mystery infestation?
A: Seriously – just go to the doctor, figure out exactly what it is and they’ll give you something to clear it up. Doctors have seen EVERYTHING. There is nothing to be embarrassed about. You must be going crazy after 3 months of dealing with this! Hope everything works out.
How to get rid of head lice once and for all and what are your experiences with the little devils?
Q: Hello, my name’s Claire. I have a beautiful 8 year old daughter called Gemma. She has gorgeous, long, thick hair. She always kept it looking lovely. One day she had an itch, I popped her in the bath and left her to wash it. But still the itch just would not subside! Calling my sister round we quickly checked her hair and our worst fears were realised. She had a full blown head lice infestation. Lice and nits. So straight away we treated her but within days they were back. So we got a different product and tried again. Same thing happened. This was about 13 months ago and I’m at my wits end. I’ve tried everything! I wash all her bedding, throw away bobbles and brushes etc. I once spent 3 hours combing every single egg out of her hair, but I apparently missed some and days later another infestation. So do you have any home made remedies for head lice? And what are your experiences with them? Thanks in advance x
A: Lyclear lotion works the best, I use it on my three kids.It works by coating the lice and sufficating them. You need to make sure you repeat it the next week too.Make sure your daughters hair is always tied back at school as she may be repeatedly picking them up there. Also coat the hair with loads of conditioner when you wash it and then comb it through and rinse, stops the little buggers clinging on!
