On a trip to Colorado we took a 4 hour “shortcut” through the high mountain tundra, had our rental car fondled by an elk, had a real estate agent leave us in the boondocks and encountered anti-Cali sentiments at every turn.
Our hotel was billed as a resort, but fell painfully short. The heated pool was broken, the sauna was Gerry rigged from the pool heater- so it was broken too. The mini golf course was a converted 8x10ft planter box, the TV was a black and white 12 inch set without a remote, the mattress was in a leak-proof baggie and the room smelled of mildew. We couldn’t get a refund so had to sleep there or take our chances with rutting elk that were rampant in the parking lot and sleep in the rental car.
