Summer draws to a close
Beaches are empty
Pools are closing
The heat rises and
gives way to a sweet chill
Leaves start falling to the ground
The trees begin to show off their new Fall bodies
Apple cider scents the air
and pumpkins begin to dot front porches.
Lovers walk hand and hand
up and down long boulevards
remembering the summer that wasn’t supposed to end.
