Since North Carolina has launched the North Carolina Education Lottery, everyone has been going insane buying scratch off tickets, including myself. There have been times when my family has won some money but it has never been any of the top prizes. So my question is what are the REAL odds of hitting the big money?
I am sure that the chances are pretty slim but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t many other prizes out there besides the big one. It really comes down to the luck of the draw, and that isn’t only in North Carolina. Lottery tickets cannot be used to make someone think that they are going to get rich from playing. There have been many times when my father and I have gone out and spent money on them and haven’t won anything back. There were also 2 times that we went out and purchased tickets and won $500.00!! This goes to show that there is always a slight chance of income from scratch off tickets! That is a chance that we were willing to take because it is entertaining! Isn’t entertainment expensive these days?
The North Carolina Education Lottery has made millions of dollars off of citizens and I think that it is great. Lottery is something that is entertaining for the entire family, although you must be 18 years or older to purchase the tickets. The lottery started here in NC whenever I was 18 so I went out and bought my first ticket and only won $5.00 on a $5.00 ticket so it wasn’t too bad. But my question is this, is it really worth it to spend money on something knowing that you may not get anything in return?
I believe it is only because there is a chance that you may spend $5.00 and win $100.00! You never know which ticket may be the lucky one! That is a chance that I am willing to take whenever I have a little bit of spare cash. I think that everyone should at least try and purchase some lottery tickets in their hometown because the money that is put in usually goes to a good cause. All of the money put into the lottery in North Carolina goes to the education of students all over the state. I believe that the lottery is a good cause and I will spend money if I have any extra to make the educational system better for the children of today.
