Neon Electrifies Fashion’s Spring/Summer Footwear Collections

There is no shying away from neon in spring/summer 2012 footwear collections. From Ruthie Davis and Casadei to Louboutin, neon footwear glowed bright for the coming seasons. The dichotomy of neon’s ’80s retro feel and futuristic vibe makes it the ultimate, eye-catching accessory to add a fun splash of color to any ensemble. Neon’s high fashion appeal no longer renders it the sole domain of ravers and tweens. These bold hues leave a lasting impression and define fresh, modern style.

Casadei

Casadei Shoes unveiled their spring 2012 line at Milan Fashion Week. They combined sky high wedges, stilettos and platform heels in bright orange, neon green, yellow, fuchsia and hot pink colors.

The neon yellow Miss Me Tokyo Wedge Sandal is along the same lines and a great way to be in step with the season’s trend without breaking the bank. (Amazon.com, $21)

Christian Louboutin

Bright hues, colored metallics, neon accents, glammed up spikes and studs, beading and intricate stitching dominated Christian Louboutin’s spring/summer 2012 collection. Louboutin’s red sole seemed the only constant. The shoe designer perennially reminds women that footwear is meant to make a statement.

The Fergie Protest Shoes, in a multitude of neon patent hues, has the appeal of a simple, sleek Louboutin pump without the hefty price tag. (ShoeMall.com, $69.95)

Ruthie Davis

Ruthie Davis never plays it safe and her architecturally magnificent, sky-high heels for spring are just as bold as one might expect from her. Neon platforms and metal hardware are staples of the line. Her heels featuring neutral tones with bright neon accents are also a great way to break into the neon trend without committing to a shoe which can be spotted from a block away.

The Jessica Simpson Vadio Heel has similar bold color blocking and a platform heel, like many of Ruthie Davis’ designs, but without the studs and hardware. The bright yellow, hot pink and blue blocks of color can be matched with a multitude of outfits. (Zappos.com, $69.99)

If you are a decided commitment-phobe, who only wants a splash of neon, Isola Stella makes a light grey pump with a thick strap of pink neon. You’ll be able to get in your dose of spring’s most major footwear trend while remaining neutral. (Shoebuy.com, $148.95)
