Let’s Celebrate Homemakers Day

Her job begins the moment she leaves the bed in the morning and gets over only when she hits the bed at night. She works almost 16 to 18 hours a day yet when it comes to her profile, she is often referred as just another homemaker who does not have any credentials in her name, to boast about. But if we try reading, in depth, the word ‘homemaker’ we will find, this is one profile which contributes the most to the society.

As we all know, home is the foundation of a society and a healthy home is the first step towards building a better world. And so these homemakers are nothing but the building force behind any civilized world.

It is said, a child’s first school is his home with the mother being his first teacher and so if a woman spends her day with the child, taking care of him, telling him, in her own special way, the rights and wrongs of the world she is, in a way, imparting him the best education. It is the mother’s presence which can give maximum security and comfort to a kid and a woman who stays at home provides a most comforting and welcoming environment to all her family members. It is indeed a beautiful feeling to find someone waiting for you at home after you are done with your day’s work. Children love their mother’s presence at home once they come back from school and similarly men also like being welcomed by someone at home, after they get back from their work. Our homemakers perform their duties religiously but somewhere in the process they are often taken for granted by their own family members. Their work never get the status of a ‘job’ and so most of them do not get even appreciation in their remuneration. Their job turns out to be the most ‘thankless’ one and this often adds to their frustration.

On the contrary, a woman who goes out and earns is often considered superior in comparison to homemakers as they contribute in the economics of the house. But in reality we find that even the homemakers contribute a lot in the household budget. As the saying goes a penny saved is a penny earned and if the statistics are analyzed one would find that a large sum of money is saved by the woman who stays at home.

Homemakers are those unsung soldiers of our society who contribution never earns them any remuneration. Nowadays, celebrating a day for each occasion has become a trend in our world whether it is mothers day, fathers day, woman’s day and the list goes on. So why not dedicate a day exclusively for these silent workers of our society and celebrate it as ‘HOMEMAKERS Day’. Even they need a pampering. Give a thought to this one!
