Elements of a Digital Antenna

In the world where every household has a big flat screen TV subscribed to a cable company, it may seem like nobody uses the old-fashioned antennas anymore – the one that is shaped like a rabbit and is attached to the roof. Well, maybe for these kinds of antennas, very few still have them. But for millions of households, the era of cable TV is yet to come. For now, they still use a digital antenna to provide them with viewing pleasure.

But to experience said viewing pleasure, a digital antenna is not the only thing that is needed. To understand how things work, one has to know the TV process.

In order to enjoy watching free TV, what one needs for his television set is a video and audio source, a transmitter and a receiver, the device responsible for displaying objects on the screen, and then a sound device. display device, and a sound device. First is the video source. This is not the device the produce pictures. This is the actual image and programs. This may be news, television show, a movie, etc. This may be live or prerecorded.

The audio source is not the device that is responsible in producing sound. It is actually the sound of the news program, TV show, movie, etc. This is the sound that was released somewhere, and now being heard from someone else’s television.

The transmitter is where the digital antenna comes in. The television network broadcasts signal to an entire location and such signal can be captured by anyone with an outdoor antenna installation, for free. This transmitter is the device responsible for delivering the sound video and the sound device to each television set tuned in to the said television network. This transmitter is basically transforms audio signals and video signals which are both electrical, and transforms the same into radio waves that are ready to be picked up by one’s television set through a digital antenna. The transmitter is the most essential part, therefore. Without it anything done by the television network is only something they own which no one can ever see.

The receiver, as mentioned above, is a person’s television set. It is where everything that took place miles away can be seen. A television set grabs radio waves. As it grabs these, it automatically processes them so that it can be released through the television’s audio and video device.

The display device is anything that displays the pictures transmitted from the source as a video device, processed by the receiver so that it can be seen by the people on the other side of the TV. The display device can be the television set, a monitor, etc. Display devices may be in the form of a cathode ray tube, the now very common Liquid Crystal Display or LCD, etc.

The Sound device is that which changes the electronic waves transmitted from the sound source in the form of waves to the television set, so that the person watching through that TV can also hear sounds from it.
