Detroit Tigers Fan’s Guide to Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida

Are you a Detroit Tigers fan who’s planning a first time pilgrimage to the Joker Marchant Stadium this spring? If you are, you won’t be disappointed with what you find at Tiger Town. It’s a really pretty stadium and it’s located in a nice section of Lakeland. Here’s a quick rundown on some of what you need to know before you go:

How to Get There

The Joker Marchant Stadium is located on Lakeland Hills Boulevard in Lakeland. The best way to get there is to take Interstate 4 to Route 33. The exit number will vary based on what direction you are coming from. Route 33 is also known as Lakeland Hills Boulevard. Parking fees start at $7 and you may purchase a parking pass in advance of your trip by contacting the Lakeland box office.

Where to Sit

There are plenty of seats at the stadium but not all of them are worthy of your hard earned dough. I’d stay away from the seats in sections 300 through 403 if you can. In my opinion, the view isn’t so hot in some spots and on blustery days those sections tend to make you feel like you’re trapped in a wind tunnel. I think that the better seats tend to be on the lower levels. If you are looking to position yourself near the Detroit Tigers’ dugout, you’ll want to reserve a stadium seat in sections 103 through 106. That area also tends to be one of the better places to snag an autograph. Those fans that prefer shade over proximity may want to opt for a seat in sections 203 through 206 instead.

Where to Eat

You are not allowed to bring food or bottled water into the stadium, so you’ll need to either hit the concession stands or wait until after the game and visit one of the nearby eateries. There are quite a few that are located within 10 minutes or less from the stadium. A few worth mentioning are the Texas Cattle Company and the Gym Sports Bar and Grill. Both are on Kentucky Avenue. If you can’t wait until after the game, there is a plethora of tasty ballpark fare onsite to choose from. Personally, I’d go with a slice of Little Caesars Pizza. Not only can you be sure of what you’re getting, it’s also a great way to support the team since team’s owner also owns the franchise. You can read about how Mike Ilitch went from being a Detroit Tigers farm team shortstop to the owner of both the Detroit Tigers and the Little Caesars Pizza franchise online.
