A winter playground like no other
Imagine a winter wonderland so breath taking that you can hardly believe it is real….Now introduce yourself to Deer Valley Resort, near Park City, Utah. Just take an easy flight to Salt Lake City and about an hour to hour and half leisurely drive in some of the most majestic powder covered mountains that you have ever seen. The resort is centered in the Wasatch Mountain Range in Utah. I have only made it half way up the mountain to the Silver Lake Lodge and the Lodge at Stein Eriksen. There is also a lower part of Deer Valley and a higher part of the mountain resort.

Skiing at Deer Valley:
No Snow boards allowed here. Your teenager may not like this rule but this keeps you very, very safe. Crashes between boarders and skiers are all too common.
According to the Salt Lake City Tribune “Deer Valley, another Park City resort, also has made an effort to better serve beginners by redesigning the Wide West run and installing three conveyor lifts.
“We were trying to make it a little less intimidating for first-time and beginner skiers,” said Deer Valley spokeswoman Emily Summers. “Ski schoolers can come right out of the lodge and get on a conveyor right there.”
The first conveyor provides a minimal slope. Once skiers are comfortable with that one, they can ride the next conveyor for a little more speed. The third conveyor provides even more opportunity to learn. After that, there are two lifts available to beginners.
The conveyors and lifts are all available to ski schoolers and the general public for a $22 day pass.”
Spa at Deer Valley:
Actually there are several and we will review each one. According again to the Salt Lake City Tribune, “The Spa at Stein Erikson Lodge known simply as the Deer Valley Spa ranks high with Forbes Travel Guide. Forbes has ranked the 3,000 square foot facility five stars.” This Travel guide ranks hotels, restaurants and spa’s and gives guest a snapshot of the places that they can expect an exceptional vacation.”
Fairytale-worthy horse-drawn sleigh rides (prices start at $100 for up to five guests; starts December 15th and takes guests around Deer Valley and to dinner). My friends and family have participated in this for the last two years during the week of Sundance Film Festival and it is magical. You can go on sleigh rides at many places around Park City but Deer Valley is nothing short of just magical.
Stein Eriksen Lodge
The Stein Eriksen Lodge named after one of Ameicas most famous skiers whom still hangs out on property is within walking distance of Silver Lake Village and on the route of the free citywide shuttle system. This ski-in/ski-out property features underground parking, fireplaces, jetted tubs, laundry facilities, as well as private hot tubs and fully equipped kitchens in some units. This full service hotel is complete with outdoor pool, hot tub, sauna, exercise room, spa, on-site restaurants, room service, lounge, concierge and in-house shuttle vans.
