The Michael Jackson death trial has finally come to an end. Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson’s private physician was found guilty for the superstar’s death.
Dr. Conrad Murray is guilty. He is guilty of betraying Michael Jackson’s trust. He is guilty of violating the Hippocratic oath. Dr. Murray is guilty of using bad judgment by giving Michael Jackson propofol. He is guilty of failing to get immediate medical help for his patient in desperate need. He is guilty of neglecting his responsibility as a doctor and he is being held accountable.
The results of this manslaughter trial will only provide a moment of relief for the Jackson family because Michael Jackson is gone forever. Prince, Paris, and Blanket will never have their amazing father back. Joseph and Katherine will never have their precious son back. Michael Jackson’s siblings will never have their beloved brother back. And the world will never experience the passion and talent of the greatest singer on earth.
But Dr. Conrad Murray is not the only one who is guilty in the death of Michael Jackson. There were countless health providers who continued to prescribe medication to the singer against their better judgment. There were plenty of people in Michael Jackson’s circle who failed to help him when they knew he had problems with prescription drugs. There were plenty of people who did not give Michael Jackson what he needed. Michael Jackson should have been protected, even from himself.
Although Dr. Conrad Murray was found guilty by the jury, this story does not have a happy ending. Not for Dr. Murray, and definitely not for Michael Jackson’s family and friends. Perhaps in time the Jackson family and Dr. Conrad Murray can find peace and understanding in this tragedy.
