Charlie Sheen Death Hoax Strikes Again

Apparently the Internet wants Charlie Sheen dead. The Daily Tribune of Michigan reported on Dec. 2 that the famed actor died in a snowboarding accident. Luckily for the former “Two and Half Men” star, the rumor was false. It turns out Sheen was nowhere near Switzerland where the Twitter rumor purported the actor to be. Unfortunately, these celebrity death hoaxes revolving around Sheen are becoming more popular.

Here’s a look at how Charlie Sheen has died:

Computer Virus

The Huffington Post reported in mid March that a computer virus was spread through Facebook. Users would look at a video that alleges a video showing Sheen is dead in his house. The link to the supposed article takes one to a YouTube page that asks readers to complete a 30-second survey.

The virus was started soon after reports of Sheen’s ill health. ABC News had just run a piece that Sheen was fired from his hit television show and didn’t look well when he appeared online from his own website. Fears that Sheen was doing too many drugs or drinking too much alcohol abound.

Character Death and Roast

Sheen’s character on “Two and a Half Men” was killed off to explain away his firing from the show. That prompted a resurrection of the malware virus in mid July. Yahoo! reported Charlie Sheen’s death was reported again — as well as Hugh Hefner’s. Both were false, but the computer virus was back.

A celebrity roast for Sheen happened in September. Entertainment Weekly states Sheen’s character, Charlie Harper, was killed off the show Sept. 19. The roast happened the same night. Despite all of the death and bad vibes surrounding the actor, he is still alive.

Snowboarding

Contact Music reports the latest death rumor alleges Sheen died while on vacation. The article states the rumor began on Mediafetcher.com.

“Witnesses indicate that Charlie Sheen lost control of his snowboard and struck a tree at a high rate of speed. Charlie Sheen was air lifted by ski patrol teams to a local hospital, however, it is believed that the actor died instantly from the impact of the crash,” the article quoted.

Sheen was nowhere near the resort of Zermatt in Switzerland, considered one of the most dangerous in the world for its huge vertical drops. Sheen has posted on his Twitter account since then and has lent his support to Toys for Tots and Meals on Wheels this holiday season.
