BOOK REVIEW: Elizabeth Lowell’s Always Time to Die

I bought this book at a thrift store for $0.10, amazing price for a second-hand novel. I failed however to notice the sticker on the side stating “Romance”. Since I’m not a romance novel reader I kept putting the book aside. Finally I picked up Always Time to Die and started reading, and to tell the truth I was pleasantly surprised.

Though there is the Romance sticker and it does qualify, it is not however overdone. The reason I stay away from romance novels at all possible turns is because I’m reading a book for the story not the pornographic details. Lowell however wrote this romance novel with taste. There was dabbling in romantic details but it was never overzealous in graphicness. I appreciate that because there is nothing wrong with writing a great story without having to focus on sexual details to keep the reader interested.

Always Time To Die is about a genealogist named Carly who travels to New Mexico for a job. Unfortunately around every corner there is a new obstacle or threat waiting to hit her dead on. While on the job in New Mexico Carly finds a friend/co-worker who becomes more, this is where the romance comes into play. This book is filled with murder, mystery, history, and interesting facts about genealogical studies. I found this book to be more of a murder mystery than a romance and would definitely read it again.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
