From the time of our nation’s beginnings, volunteers and volunteer organizations have been instrumental in relief and recovery operations for every imaginable need.

There are a myriad of ways to honor and cherish your commitment to your community, and Howell County, Missouri supports an integrated network of charitable organizations. Designed to support local relief and sometimes national need for volunteers, two such organizations are the American Red Cross, and the Samaritan Outreach Center, both located in West Plains.

With strong leadership, effective management skills, and unparalleled devotion to service by its members, the Greater Ozarks Chapter of the American Red Cross, located in West Plains, Missouri, has evolved into a service organization which thrives on excellence.

Located at 218 West Main Street in West Plains, this chapter offers health and safety classes open to the community, such as CPR, babysitter training, and much more. In addition to participating in community activities, Volunteers help out with disasters relief services, both local and national, and provide emergency communications for armed forces personnel and their families.
