5 Best Places to View Fall Foliage in Maine

Maine’s scenic highways and byways provide decent roads with incredible fall scenery and can be a day trip or part of a longer trip. Maine is a beautiful state, and four of the country’s National Scenic Byways are here, allowing visitors to see her at her glorious best in October.

Acadia National Byways takes you through Maine’s only National Park, Acadia. Splendid vistas will meet you at every corner. You can drive up Cadillac Mountain, hike on the park’s carriage trails and visit Bar Harbor.

Schoodic National Scenic Byway takes you to a lesser known part of Acadia National Park. You’ll get a glimpse of a slower pace in the fishing villages you pass and a geology lesson at Schoodic Point.

Rangeley Lakes National Scenic Byway in Western Maine takes you through some beautiful mountain scenery along Routes 4 and 17. Don’t be surprised if you see deer or moose along this drive.

Old Canada Road Scenic Byway, on Route 201 between Solon and the Canadian border, is a pleasant and beautiful drive and you’re very likely to see wildlife on your journey.
