She was the wholesome girl-next-door everyone loved in High School Musical. But Vanessa Hudgens, now 22, is all grown up, and taking on edgier, sexier roles.
In 2011’s Sucker Punch, Hudgens played Blondie, a raven-haired dancer who betrays her friends when they plan to escape the mantal home. In barely-there bodices and heavy makeup, Hudgens’s character in Sucker Punch exudes the sex appeal that never existed in High School Musical.
Recently, Hudgens was cast opposite Nicolas Cage and John Cusack in thriller Frozen Ground. The movie is based on serial killer Robert Hansen who killed 24 women. Hudgens will play the woman who escaped.
While her High School Musical castmates have all moved on to other projects, Hudgens seems to be doing just fine in her career. It’s nice to see a young actress exploring new horizons and giving her fans a refreshing change.
