COMMENTARY | Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez has been charged with attempting to assassinate the president of the United States. Hernandez strongly believes that Barack Obama is the Antichrist and that the government is conspiring against him for some reason. With these two ideas in mind, it is safe to say that Oscar must believe in Biblical prophecy and that he thinks that he can do something about it. But, the idea that the government is conspiring against him is a shared impression today with many citizens without a job for months, so let’s not go there!
The economic crisis we face today is indeed the environment of the Antichrist’s introduction, but is it not the word from the mouth of God – that is if you are a believer? Once more we find people confessing faith in prophecy, but do not know the limits of their efforts when it comes to divine order. Oscar demonstrates the ignorance of those who are being led blind by pastors and priests who themselves do not know the truth. The Old Testament book of Isaiah, chapter 55, verse 11, God declares: “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” (KJV). So, if you have real faith in what you supposed to believe, then put the gun down. There isn’t anything you can do about what shall be!
What is the real story here? Is it not that most people can just scream right now with the way in which the economy has been going? Are there others out there who are eyeballing a gun because of their frustrations, and plotting to kill their boss, their spouse, or themselves? All in the name of trying to make their environment a little more tolerable! The real story is that church goers are not educated on truths and reduced to animals on the streets – thinking they are doing God’s service or that they are Jesus Christ.
The essence of this event is that the American people are at our wits end about the price of gasoline, the rising cost of food, the tax & fee local policies, congressional fighting over insane ideas, and the constant flow of the unemployed along city streets. Ortega may have had mental issues, but he is not stupid. He knows that life can be better, if but for the constant demagoguery of certain congressman allowing the rich to get richer! He knows that people in both parties are telling him lies! He knows that soon the occupy movement will not be enough and someone else will pick up a gun and aim it at innocent people. I suspect that next time it may be Clyde, Jenny, Bob, or Shaniqua from the block!
