Somalia Famine and Drought; Food Being Stolen

In Somalia, famine and drought continued to spread everyday. Droughts are usually long periods of insufficient rainfall. In that case people can experience shortage of food that will cause starvation, malnutrition, epidemic and increased mortality.

For the first time United Nations officially declared a famine in two regions of southern Somalia. Many lives had been claimed before famine declared.

Thousand of refugees from Somalia fled from neighboring countries like Kenya and Ethiopia. Ten tonnes of food delivered to Mogandishu where refugees camp located.

Instead of feeding the starving stomach of the refugees especially the children, it was being discovered that food for the Somalia’s famine victims had been stolen and being sold at markets.

An investigations by U.N.’s World Food Program had been acknowledge. Despite of food being stolen in Somalia, WFP did not allow any suspension of assistance that will result more deaths.
