CNS News Reports : “Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) thanked President Obama for circumventing the Legislative branch when it comes to immigration law. Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code makes it a federal crime to be in the United States illegally. Nevertheless, the Obama administration in August directed federal immigration officials to use “prosecutorial discretion” in deciding which illegal aliens to detain and deport.”
Constitutional amendments can be altered, added or removed by a process created within the constitution. So, if the President doesn’t like a law he can write a bill to make the law what he thinks is proper for this situation. He can look for support among the populace and change our legal code for the better of our society. Now if most people feel the President’s idea is not worthy then his change to the law will falter and die. The President needs to work within the system to make the changes he feels need to be made. He has the best bully pulpit to address the nation and rally the people behind him to improve the law. Let the process work itself out according to the the plan given to us as a nation of laws.
How will we punish the President?
The process is clear on how to change the law but the President has chosen a lawless path. Once the head of our nation sets the example then every citizen will want to follow. The government wants to tax me. I don’t feel that amount is right so I will send in what I think is fair and I will not report what I think is over the top. The government doesn’t want me to use illegal stuff (fill in the blank), but I think I will use and sell illegal stuff.
Oh but I can hear you now, “If it’s against the law you will be arrested, tried and punished”. Yes you are correct. I do not want to go to jail so I will follow the law. The laws make us a civil society and we can change the laws we feel are improper. But we must change them in good order according to the law. So what do we do with a President who refuses to obey the law and forces others to work outside of the law?
We Impeach the President.
We must impeach him. Not because of this issue of immigration or because he is or is not in our political party. We must impeach any and all presidents who operate outside the law. If we do not force them to live within the laws, the way we do, then they will quickly become dictators and we will be nothing but slaves. Now, once the process is started, if he corrects himself and follows the law then stop the impeachment process. But if we do not follow through with Presidential punishment then every President will be lawless. Ask yourself this question, if I like the president with this type of power, will you be equally as pleased when a president with opposite political leanings has that power? What if it were a president who wanted to deport everyone of a certain ethnic group. Or wanted to round up all illegals and ship them to another country for evil purposes. We must hold our elected officials to the same standards that we must follow. If we do not, then we have given up our rights and freedoms and received nothing in exchange.
