How to Easily Remove Hairspray Residue

I may not have even existed in the 70’s, but I love my Aqua-Net just as much as the next girl. However, if you too are a fellow hair product junkie, then you also know the tell-tale signs. Dull mirrors, slightly sticky counters, that rough texture on your tile. And you also know that hairspray residue isn’t easy, if even possible, to remove with regular cleaner. What’s a girl to do? Rubbing alcohol, of course!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Rubbing Alcohol (I prefer the Wintergreen scented variety, it will make your bathroom smell amazing!)
Empty Spray Bottle
Wash Cloth
Warm Water
Cotton Balls

Fill up your spray bottle half way with warm water, and pour in a generous amount of the rubbing alcohol. Your measurements don’t have to be precise, and for the heaviest layered hairspray, you can even use undiluted rubbing alcohol. Spray on your mirror, countertop, and any other surface that has been misted by hairspray and wipe clean with a wash cloth. For extra tough residue, moisten a cotton ball with the rubbing alcohol and remove stain with circular motions.

This also works great for any hair product residue on your blow dryer, curling iron, straight iron, etc. Depending on the material and finish of your floor, you may be able to use this mixture as an easy mopping solution.

Happy cleaning ladies, and here’s wishing you, and your hair, the very best!
