Fall’s Flameless Fire Fell

Last year the trees were torched by a fire that did not burn.

Fall’s flameless fire fell in the shape of autumn leaves.

A cool, consuming conflagration quenched by winter’s cold approach.

Even so, the seasonal conflagration was never truly sated,

For it came again,

And I stood again as the Good Book Says:

In the midst of falling fire and was not burned.
