Falling in the Fall

We met in the park as the leaves blew down around us,
The golden haze of the sunset winking its approval at our instant attraction to one another.
The brown of his eyes in such stark contrast to the sky blue of mine.
The chill in the air giving no hint to the warmth spreading through my heart at his smile.
Had I just found the one who would weather the winter with me?
Or could he be the one who would stay with me the rest of my life?
Our steps matched as we walked along the leaf strewn path,
Both of us asking eager questions of the other.
Was his heart beating as rapidly as mine?
His hand accidentally brushed mine, then our fingers groped for a purposeful hold;
I allowed it
Today we meet in the park again, along with our kids and theirs.
He reaches for my hand;
I still allow it.
