Boycott the Republican Debate

Wednesday September 7, 2011 the republican candidates seeking the office of the presidency will gather to debate each other. The date is significant, as that is the date the president had chosen to speak to the nation about his policy on creating jobs for the jobless. However, in the ongoing effort by republicans to insult and demean our President, speaker Boehner chose to request a change of date for the President’s address in an attempt to embarrass the President. This being a purely political move, it is a flagrant insult to our President. The speaker simply wants to highlight the republican debate; at which nothing much will happen.

What will really happen is that five or six ideologues will bash President Obama on live television. There is nothing to what they will say or do that should be of interest to a thinking person. Sarah Palin of course will not be there as she has chosen to upstage everyone instead of actually running. Rick Perry, Michelle Bachman et al will use their time to throw out talking points about how much the President has not done. The recurring theme of republicans these days is how much President Obama has failed. Instead of laying out a plan of their own, they will play the old tired tapes of their hate and vitriol. They are not fit to govern, yet they would ask you to elect them to positions of governance. Don’t fall for the old ‘okey doke’. All they really want is to give the extremely rich more of the nation’s wealth.

The republicans have included a black person, Herman Cain, to pretend that they are inclusive. They have tasked him with spurting language that cuts at our President and denigrates minority groups, especially Muslims. That is unacceptable. We do not need a member of a minority group to display the bigotry of this nation. We all see and feel it for ourselves every day.

Brian Williams will act as moderator of this ignoble event. I like Brian Williams very much. He is worth watching but everyone else in this debacle is not. So don’t watch. MSNBC the network on which this event is to be carried is one of my favorite networks to watch. However, on that night, I will not be watching and I urge you to not watch either. Networks depend hugely on the number of people to set how much they rake in as revenue. If you do not watch, this affects their revenue. It is not to punish a very good network, but as a statement that insulting the president has consequences.

Join me, boycott the worthless debate. I know that you may want to see this event to catch whatever nonsense will be said and by whom. Anything said that might interest you, will be repeated on several ‘news’ program for days following. No need to see for yourself. Plus there will be clips on YouTube. You’ll still get to hear the juicy bits. Boycott them; they need to not hear from you.
