Yada Yada Prayer Group Book 1 Review

While strolling a local flea market a pink book caught my eye from the used book “store” at the flea market. This particular shade of pink always catches my eye for some reason. So I picked it up. Yada Yada Prayer Group, Neta Jackson. I had never heard of it. I read the back, hmmm. I opened up to a random page (like I do with all books) and read part of it. I enjoyed the flow. I asked the person working how much the book was and bought it.

Yada Yada Prayer Group is actually a series of books written by Neta Jackson. These books are so well written that it is hard to put them down once you start. There are 7 of them! When I found that out I was super stoked!

These books are about a group of women who were “randomly” assigned to Prayer Group 26 at a Women’s Conference in Chicago. Most of the women have a relationship with one other woman in the group prior to the conference, all except Leslie “Stu” Stewart and Florida “Flo” Hickman. During the weekend conference there is time for worship, fellowship and prayer. Tragedy happens during the conference bringing these women even closer together. Seeing that the conference was only 3 days and this tragedy needed to be covered in constant prayer the group stayed together. They tried to keep it going via emails, but that was only getting them so far. They started to meet every other weekend at different member’s home.

Later in the book tragedy strikes again, throwing the main character, Jodi Baxter, into a tail spin of questioning her faith and questioning God. Yada Yada keeps her and her family covered in prayers throughout the entire ordeal.

The first time I read Yada Yada Prayer Group, I was unaware of it being a series. I felt that Jackson finished all of the story lines quite nicely. When I found out it was a series like I said before I was super stoked and I have now read books 2 and 3. Jackson ties all of the books together very nicely.

One thing that I love about these books, aside from how well they are written, is that each book comes with book club questions. You can very easily use these books with a small group at church, your own prayer group, or a book club. I would highly recommend the Yada Yada prayer group to any woman, of any faith.
