P90X for Abs: 7 Top Core Exercises from P90X

P90X has plenty of ab and core exercises, however these 7 core exercises from P90X will challenge your midsection and get you ripped! While there is a disc dedicated to your Abs. Many of the core exercises that I chose to be the top are not from Ab Ripper X. You’re on your way to 6 packed abs!

Wacky Jacks from Cardio X is the most fun exercise. It’s like jumping jacks only Wacky with side crunches. It takes a few movements to get them going right.

Jump Knee Tuck from Plyometrics will get your heart pumping because you keep your body calm as you jump up pulling your knees towards your chest using your hands as targets for your knees. In order to do this you need to tighten your core.

Touch the Sky from Yoga X is the first exercise known as Yoga Belly 7. With your back on the ground you lift your legs straight up reaching for the sky and your arms are also reaching for the sky. As soon as you reached as far as you can, Tony Horton says to reach higher.

Seated Crunchy Frog from Ab Ripper X is a continually moving workout where you sit on the floor, knees bent and feet off the ground, you bring in your knees and do your best to hug them, then extend your legs without your feet touching the ground and bring them back in for a hug.

Superman Banana from Core Synergistics strengthens the back and abs for a total core workout. With your stomach on a ground and your arms and legs stretched out like you are flying in the air like Superman. You lift your body as high as possible. You will feel it in the back. Then you listen for Tony Horton to say, “Banana” in which you roll on to your back and you tighten your abs for a great core workout. As a bonus, Tony will switch back and forth between Superman and Banana several times. This will leave you dizzy and glad when it’s over. Oh Joy!

Mason Twist from Ab Ripper X will make your grimace every time you do it. You begin in a seated position with knees bent and your feet off the ground. With your hands clasp (some people like to interlace the fingers) together you move them side-to-side twisting your upper body. You touch the floor on each side with your knuckles.

Plank to Chaturanga Run from Core Synergistics, just happens to be my all-time favorite core exercise from P90X. You start off in the plank position, similar to the up position for a push-up. Next you drop your chest down as you would for a pushup, but now you hold it just an inch off the ground. Then you start moving your legs in a running motion. Boy does this make you breath heavy!

After a good core and ab workout, the best stretch for your midsection is Upward Dog and if you are really beat, Cobra is a great choice to stretch out the abs.

These are my favorite core moves. Visit www.runwithnoah.com and tell me what your favorite P90X core exercise is.
