Charles Krauthammer says that it is preposterous that Obama punts on building oil pipeline from Canada. President Obama who claims that he really wants to put Americans to work has decided to put the Canada oil pipeline project on hold, a project that experts say could put 20,000 Americans to work. In my opinion, this decision by the President show that he is more concerned with what the environmentalists and the far left think than about creating shovel ready jobs for Americans.
Not only could this project create jobs for Americans, but also the Canada to America pipeline could reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil. With some of the Middle Eastern oil suppliers harboring anti-American sentiment, America should get as much oil as possible from domestic resources and from our northern neighbor Canada. There is no reason for the American people to be held hostage by Middle Eastern oil suppliers.
This is just another example of the left leaning of President Obama. In my opinion, Obama is so committed to left-wing ideology that he unable to look out for the general welfare of the nation. Just to be fair, maybe he is genuinely concerned about the environment and that drives him to deny Americans this great opportunity for jobs and oil. If that is the case, I still believe he should allow the deal to go through, I feel that the good that it would do is worth the possible environmental risk. If he believes that this will further the green agenda, I think he is wrong; Americans are going to consume fossil fuels as long as they have access to gas, they may have to pay more but I believe they will keep on driving.
I would like to see our President put this to a vote, let the American people decide the fate of the Canadian oil pipeline. After all, we the people are the ones that pay the salary of Mr. Obama.
