As a self proclaimed beauty product junkie, you can rest assured that I have tried just about every drugstore mascara out there – Rimmel, Maybelline, CoverGirl, NYC, Almay and L’Oreal – and even several couture mascaras – Too Faced, Smashbox, Clinique – you name it, I’ve probably tried it. My quest for the perfect mascara began several years ago and I was determined not to back down until I found a truly perfect mascara. My discovery is this: there may not be such a thing as a truly perfect mascara. Tragic, I know. However, I have found three mascaras that are so fabulous that I have absolutely no desire to try any new mascaras ever again. Let me share with you my favorites:
1) L’Oreal Extra Volume Collagen Plumping Mascara – This is definitely my go-to mascara. I would not have dreamed of wearing any other mascara on my wedding day. I first gave this mascara a try after a very convincing advertisment by Eva Longoria. After all, what could be more volumizing than collagen itself? This mascara gives lift, shape, volume and length to my lashes with just a few simple strokes. My one and only complaint is that the first few uses aren’t the very best because it tends to be a little thin at first, and thickens after several uses. However, all things considered I would highly recommend this mascara to absolutely everyone.
2) L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara – Another by L’Oreal, this mascara has to be the very best at giving defined volume. I tried this mascara after another very convincing commercial starring Jennifer Lopez. (Me, gullible? No way.) My favorite aspect about this mascara is that it keeps my lashes feeling very fluttery and soft, regardless of how many coats I apply. However, what keeps Million Lashes from being my favorite is that it simply doesn’t create as much volume as the Extra Volume Collagen.
3) Maybelline Volume’Express The Falsies – Yes, in fact I did find this mascara via a commercial as well, but what can I say? A girl has always got to be on the look-out for a great beauty product. This mascara has such a great brush, it really brings a lot of lift and length with only a very minimal coat. By curling your outer lashes, your eyes appear bigger and more aware. This is definitely my number one lengthening mascara, but once again it simply isn’t capable of providing the volume that the Extra Volume Collagen can.
