In memory of Whitney Houston, here is a look at seven of her best songs ever.

“I Will Always Love You”

By 1992, Whitney Houston was already a household name, and then one movie and one wildly popular song catapulted her into legendary status. Whitney Houston’s version of “I Will Always Love You” could be heard just about everywhere, and turned into an instant hit. Even now, when you think of Whitney Houston, “I Will Always Love You” probably isn’t far from your mind.

Another song that immortalized Whitney Houston as one of the greatest female vocalists of the 20th century is “Greatest Love of All.” The song’s lyrics are inspirational, and when paired with Whitney’s vocals, the song is elevated to a completely new level. “Greatest Love of All” is one of those songs that is simply unforgettable.

“I Wanna Dance With Somebody”

One of Whitney’s songs that was fun and is easily danced along to is “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.” Released in 1987, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” meshed well with other dance songs of the time. Additionally, the music video for “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” is adorable and exudes ’80s pop culture. If you haven’t seen it, definitely give it a glance.

“I’m Your Baby Tonight”

Another song by Whitney Houston that is a lot of fun to listen, sing and dance along to is “I’m Your Baby Tonight.” Whitney takes this song from pretty mellow to fairly intense in no time at all. This song remains on my mp3 player today, and is sure to always lift my mood.

“How Will I Know?”

“How Will I Know?” is an upbeat, catchy song by Whitney Houston that has massive pop appeal. I especially enjoy watching the music video, with a young Whitney singing with a giant silver bow in her hair as she dances around a set with vivid paintings asking “How Will I Know?

“When You Believe”

For the animated film “Prince of Egypt,” Whitney Houston teamed up with Mariah Carey to perform “When You Believe.” The outcome is a beautiful song, inspiration message, and a tremendous show of vocal talent.

“One Moment in Time”

One of the best performances of Whitney Houston’s career occurred when she performed “One Moment in Time” at the 1989 Grammy awards. Her performance was simply mind blowing. The power of her voice was nothing short of amazing. I will always remember Whitney Houston as she was in that moment: a tremendous musical talent and beautiful beyond belief.
