Gilly the Giraffe

“Gilly ,Gilly” said Gloria, Gilly’s mother, “At this rate you will be late for school, hurry and get on the bus or you’ll never make it in time to exchange valentine cards with everyone.” Gilly did what her mother asked and hurried to the bus. Gilly went all the way to the back of the bus where her friend Magie sat. She was so excited about handing out her valentines day cards to all of her classmates, she spent the whole bus ride talking about it. The school bus arrived at Jungle elementary. One by one the children lined up to go to there classrooms, adorned with construction paper hearts, candy and sweet little check yes or no love notes. Gilly got to her classroom and got her paper heart pouch all taped to the back of her chair. The folder made it easier to keep track of the valentines cards she receives. The teacher seeing the excitement in there eyes told them to start passing out there cards. Gilly went to go get her cards out of her cubby when she noticed she had left them sitting on the bus next to Magie. Gilly went up to the teacher and said “Miss. Ann i cant find my cards, what if i don’t get to pass them out to everyone.” The teacher promised her that she would do her best to find the missing cards. Gilly sat at her desk sad and worried that she would miss out on the valentines party, but out of the corner of her eye she caught a glimpse of billy the chimp bus driver walking into the room. Gilly sprang from her seat in hopes that Billy had picked her cards from the buss seat. Billy looked at her smiled and stuck out his foot which was clenching her valentines cards. The day was saved. Billy’s kind gesture made this the best valentines day ever for Gilly the Giraffe!
