Gena Showalter has become my favorite new romance novelist because her Lords of the Underworld series draws you in with dynamic characters and relevant story lines that continue into every book. Even when the book takes a break from the plot of the main characters, you do not feel like the next plot is pointless. The Lords are constantly saving necks while falling in love. Each has been possessed with a demon that they must learn to tame before they can ever have peace in their lives. It is really interesting to watch these heroes struggle with their demons, how the demons affect their everyday lives, and how the women can quiet the demon inside them. It makes for great reading that you can easily lose yourself in.
My favorite Gena Showalter novel is The Darkest Lie. Ancient warrior Gideon is the Keeper of Lies, and if he says anything truthful, he is left with so much pain that he is rendered immobile for days. It is interesting going through the book and trying to figure out what he really means. No other author could have painted such a fantastic character and made him so readable and realistic. Gena Showalter knows how to bring her characters alive for readers in ways many other novelists cannot manage. It is easy to write about the everyday hero and heroine, but Gena Showalter certainly has a difficult task on her hands with her unique Lords of the Underworld characters. This romance expert thinks she succeeds! There is definitely more bestsellers in Gena Showalter’s future!
