Colors fade fast among the meadows
As shades of green turn pale gold overnight.
Trees stand tall against clear blue skies
Reflecting the rainbow colors of the sun.
The cacophony of fall leaves rustling overhead
Heralds the beginning of one season and ends another.
A blanket of leaves lies ahead like a red carpet
Loudly announcing the beginning of an event.
Their colors brilliant under the sun,
Each leaf takes its time responding to nature.
Lingering quietly upon the blanket, its fading color
A gentle reminder that time is only for the moment.
Children run fast past the colorful blanket
As crisp fall air races alongside keeping pace.
Cool breezes gently push fallen leaves
Into a hodgepodge of symmetrical designs
Like those inside a kaleidoscope.
Seasons come and go with each making a statement
Like an artist’s brush using colors from a palette.
As we step among the fallen leaves
Scattering the natural order of things, we do not worry
Knowing this time will come again.
And so it goes…..
