Classic Paula Abdul Vs the “New” Paula Abdul

Back in the late 1980’s early 90’s, Paula Abdul’s music and personality was a hit and a sensation with both teen girls and young adult women. Her funky cartoon singing cat character in the video “Opposites Attract” entertained us all as she spoke of how men and women could be opposites yet still be attracted to one another. That video even won a Grammy for “Best Music Video.” She then won our hearts in her romantic melody of “Rush, Rush” as well as her enticing “Blowing Kisses in the Wind.”

Posters of Paula decorated the bedrooms of young teen girls and we danced to her tunes on the radio as well as our cassette tapes. Paula was our “Miley Cyrus” back in the day-although Paula was just a bit older-and didn’t do Disney…Paula has sold almost over 54 million of her albums worldwide since her debut to the singing industry in 1988.

With the birth of American Idol, Paula Abdul sat as one of the most favorable judges and began stealing our hearts all over again. Wanna-be idols loved her, her appreciated advice and always trying to find a way to inspire young wanna be singers. Paula has also tried to make her come-back to the music industry and her old fans from the 80’s are following her tracks once again. We have all loved seeing Paula make her come-back-as most of us really missed her.

Future plans of Paula include coming back to sit down next to Simon Cowell on the American version of U.K. Hit talent show, the “X” Factor. As much as we all loved her and Simon together on American Idol, now we all get to see the two’s love/hate relationship. Although, Paula did get to to some judging of her own on a dance reality television show called, “Got to Dance.” Want-to-be dancers danced their way to Paula’s heart and in the end, a winner (or winners) was chosen.

Those of us who grew up with Paula Abdul, still get our fix today as we see her host contests and create a few new songs. A new generation has gotten to meet one of the sweethearts from the 80’s and 90’s music and era. It also gives us fans from 20 some years ago a reason to pull out her old songs and play them all over again. Those of us who are mothers can “educate” our daughters about Paula Abdul and perhaps introduce her music to them as well. Paula Abdul will be “forever our girl,” for years to come.
