This question many people are very curious about. Many people will be quick to say the Anaconda is the longest snake in the world, but anaconda is not the longest snake in the world. The anaconda is the largest snake in the world. That means it outweighs the rest of the snakes but is not the longest. The longest snake in the world would be a reticulated python. Reticulated pythons are found in Asia. They can grow up to 40 feet in length. Rarely reaching that size in captivity, the longest on record in captivity is 28 feet. These snakes aren’t venomous but they are constrictors. Once they reach a large size, they are powerful enough to kill a full grown man with ease. The reticulated pythons are very good swimmers and love the water very much. They also love to climb trees and spend a lot of their time in trees. They will eat mammals, rodents, birds, and even primates. They can swallow a prey up to one fourth of their own length and weight. They are ambush hunters waiting on their prey to come along within striking distance before biting once to hold the prey and coiling to constrict the prey. They reproduction quite quickly laying 15 to 80 eggs per clutch and only take 88 days for the eggs to hatch.

Hatchlings are about 2 feet when they are born. Reticulated python can reach 10 foot in the first year of their life. The reticulated pythons have become big sellers in the pet trade industry because of producing what is known as morphs. The morphs have now produced snakes called tiger reticulated, super tiger reticulated, albino reticulated and so many more. There are now so many morphs with very neat patterns. These snakes can be purchase for as little as hundred and seventy five dollars for a normal reticulated python. Many people don’t see the dangers of owning a large snake, but with every pet comes risks. So now everyone will know that the reticulated python is the longest snake in the world not the fearsome anaconda.
