Recently Archie Manning made comments about how he didn’t believe that having his son Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck on the same team would work out. Given the horrific state record of the Indianapolis Colts, you have to believe that the Colts will take Luck with the first overall pick in the draft. When that scenario almost certainly happens, you have to believe that the only option that the Colts will have is to trade away their future Hall of Fame signal caller and take the value that will come with such a move. This leads to the question of where Manning will end up. Here are the top 5 places that could use Peyton Manning.
Seattle Seahawks
Seattle has a strong fan base and they play in a stadium that plays to Manning’s strengths. They’ll also have a lot of space under the salary cap which will be crucial to bringing a star like Manning to town. Pete Carroll has discovered a solid running game with Lynch and having Manning around will only make receivers Sidney Rice, Doug Baldwin and Mike Williams immediate fantasy football favorites.
Washington Redskins
The best reason that this move would make since is that Daniel Snyder has proven in the past that he’s willing to spend money to make this team better. You’ve also got to believe that Santana Moss would love the thought of playing with a legitimate quarterback for a change. The only question would be if Mike Shanahan would be willing to modify his offensive system to fit Peyton’s high football IQ.
Kansas City Chiefs
This team already has talent and when that injury riddled group of players takes the field with a quarterback of Peyton’s abilities watch out! With potential stud receivers in Dwayne Bowe and Steve Breaston and top tier running back in Jammal Charles, you’ve got to love the pairing of Peyton with this group of players. Jacksonville Jaguars
What better cure for a franchise in trouble is there than Manning? If you’re a new owner and a new coach in this town bringing Manning in as your starting quarterback may get you the keys to the city. This town needs excitement about its football team and even more important than that, they need to sell tickets. The only problem is that I don’t see the Colts allowing Peyton to play them twice in the same season.
Tennessee Titans
The newspaper headlines will read “Prodigal Son Returns”! Can you imagine the numbers that Kenny Britt will put up with Peyton Manning at the helm handing off to the suddenly resurgent CJ2K? This move would immediately catapult the Titans to being a Superbowl favorite and send a small market team to prime time football favorite.
Of course, all of this hinged upon the fact that that the Colts do draft Andrew Luck and that they do trade Peyton Manning to help them in the rebuilding process. Yes it is all conjecture, but when you look at the fact that this team has yet to win a game and you have big name free agents like Reggie Wayne that probably won’t be returning, this scenario seems more and more likely and if it happens its sure to be another exciting offseason.
