Clint Eastwood is one of the most famous actors of his generation. He originally gained fame playing Rowdy Yates in the classic western series “Rawhide”. He is perhaps best known for two roles. He played the man with no name in several westerns and he also played Inspector Callahan in the Dirty Harry trilogy. Below is a list of Clint Eastwood’s top six movies.
6: “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”. One of Clint Eastwood’s Spaghetti westerns, he stars as the gunfighter with no name. He is privately told of a grave that is filled with gold. His partner knows the location of the cemetery and he knows the name of the grave. The two unlikely men must partner in order to find the buried gold.
5: “Dirty Harry”. Clint Eastwood stars as Harry Callahan, a San Francisco police inspector. He is armed with a Smith and Wesson .44 Magnum handgun. With the powerful weapon at his side, he cleans out much of San Francisco’s bad element.
4: “Every Which Way But Loose”. Clint Eastwood stars as an amateur boxer who earns a living by participating in illegal fighting matches. Along the way, he dispenses of several opponents, falls in love and makes an enemy of the local motorcycle gang. The best parts of the movie, however are reserved for the family pet, an orangutan.
3: “Outlaw Josey Wales”. Eastwood plays a poor farmer during the end of the Civil War. His family is killed, and his farm is burned down by renegades. With nothing left to do, he joins a band of Confederate soldiers and fights on the side of the South. With the war ending, the entire band surrenders except for Josey. Josey becomes the hunted as a posse is organized to hunt him down.
2: “Gran Torino”. Eastwood stars as Walt Kowalski a retired auto worker. His wife recently died and he finds himself alone. He befriends some Vietnamese immigrants in the neighborhood and must protect his new friend from the local street gang.
1: “The Unforgiven”. Eastwood stars as Will Muny, a notorious gunfighter. Muny is trying to go straight, but must go on one last killing. He and his two partners travel north to kill two cowboys who defaced a prostitute.
Clint Eastwood starred in over 70 films. Many of these films would make a top Eastwood film list. Other films not included on this list are: “The Enforcer”, “Pale Rider”, “Kelly’s Heroes” and “In the Line of Fire”.
