‘The 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards’: Highlights and Winners

“The 63 rd Primetime Emmy Awards” aired Sunday on Fox. Talent was abundant, and, of course, the fashion was outstanding.

Dresses were often focused on the backside, with open-backed dresses and an emphasis on the derriere being a trend for the upcoming year. Curves were not something to hide. Classic colors of black, red and gold were prominent on the Red Carpet. Deep purples and blues were present to a lesser degree, with only occasional greens.

This year’s host, Jane Lynch of the hit show “Glee”, wore designs by David Meister, donning several of his dresses throughout the event.

A number of highlights hit the stage throughout the night. Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon opened the presentations with a hysterical skit. Charlie Sheen made his appearance, and was big enough to wish the cast of “Two and a Half Men” all his best. Jon Cryer and Ashton Kutcher also appeared (though not with Charlie), and Ashton assured Jon that he did not think him to be a troll.

The ladies nominated for “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy” were all quite funny, with each one taking to the stage in a beauty pageant spoof as their nomination was announced. The winner received a tiara and a bouquet of roses along with her Emmy.

A touching “In Memoriam” segment also graced the show, remembering the actors, actresses, and other TV notables that we’ve lost in this past year.

Four genres were presented for this show. These were: Comedy, Variety/Reality, Drama, and Miniseries/Movies. Comedy was the opening genre, with “Modern Family” dominating.
