Everyday a portion of people put themselves in a great deal of danger just trying to bring home a decent paycheck. Those who work these dangerous jobs do so for the passion while others do it because it’s what’s readily available. 1. Sausage maker – Now you may be wondering what can be so dangerous about preparing sausages. There is a lot of danger involved in preparing sausages. Those who make sausages work in a factory with big man eating machines such as grinders. The machines can weigh up to 50 pounds and can even exceed a couple of hundred pounds. Made out of metal and steel these machines are death traps and true man eating machines. The meat grinder is specifically built with sharp edges that cut like blades to grind up the meat for production. The person that works behind this machine has to manually drop pounds of the meat into it as well as monitor its flow to ensure it’s working properly. If the person operating the machine happens to lose sight of the work before him he can easily lose a few fingers, hand, leg or an arm. The machine works similar to a garbage disposal except it has ten times the power.

2. Warehouse workers – What can be so dangerous about sorting shipping, receiving and stocking? Well, warehouse workers put themselves in the face of danger daily. Warehouse workers usually have to operate heavy machinery such as forklifts, stock cages, hoists, and climb high ladders. A slip, a fall or a wrong turn can prove deadly for these workers. The workers not only have to be cautious of the machinery but they must be cautious of fires, gas, and electric appliances. Lastly workers are required to life heavy items which can cause great musculoskeletal damage. Workers face many unforeseen dangers.

3. Receptionist in Emergency Rooms – What can be so dangerous about answering phones and doing paperwork? In the emergency room and in any hospital setting the setting can be hectic. It does not compare to receptionist work in general offices. It is more demanding and it puts workers right in the center of diseases and bio hazardous wastes such as blood. While working as an Emergency room receptionist you may take home more than what you bargain for.

4. Fisherman – What’s so dangerous about fishing? Fishermen put themselves right in the middle of danger. These men have many factors against them before they even start fishing. The weather plays an important role to the fisherman’s success. Unstable waters can lead to drowning and injury. This is a gritty and very dangerous way to earn a living.

5. Bag Checkers (airport) – Everyday is an event for bag checkers. They never know what to expect. Potential danger lies all around the airport. Not only do bag checkers have to worry about what’s in other people’s luggage or on their bodies they have to worry about potential fires, security threats, and pandemonium. Bag checkers and airport employees are all surrounded by gallons of fuel. This working condition has the potential to go awry and can cause terrible tragedies.

6. Roofers – In this day and age with the advance in technology for safety gear roofing may not seem that dangerous. Even with safety belts roofers still face falling from very high heights. Roofers work up to heights of 20 feet (or more) at a time assembling new roofs or repairing old ones. There is a great risk of dying from a falling death in this job. 7. Taxi drivers – What’s so dangerous about being a taxi driver? You drive and get paid right? Well, taxi drivers come into contact with people of all backgrounds. It is highly likely for a taxi driver to transport an ex convict or a serial killer without even knowing it. These drivers make easy robbing victims because the way they are positioned when driving puts them at a vulnerable state. Taxi drivers can’t see what is coming from behind them making ambush much more possible. Some taxis come equipped with bullet proof glass but most do not have the plastic/glass.

8. Bouncers – These guys get to be surrounded by good music and pretty ladies what can be so dangerous about this? Bounces like taxi drivers interact with people of various backgrounds. The people they often interact with are usually drunk and full of adrenaline. Intoxicated people can be particularly hard to deal with and bouncers have to put themselves in the way of danger to discourage any disorder in the facility. This often deals with breaking up fights and sometimes dealing with people who are holding weapons.

9. Timber cutters have very dangerous jobs. These men have the job of going deep into the woods and cutting down certain trees to be used for production of furniture, houses, ad such. This job is dangerous because the men put themselves in the way of falling trees which are extremely heavy in weight. These trees fall from massive heights at a steady pace which can easily maim any man caught in its path. Timber cutters have one of the highest mortality rates.

10. Venom extractors – The name of this job sounds dangerous enough. You do not hear too much about this type of job but it does exist. The people that hold these jobs are very important. Snake bites can range from mild to severe. Depending on the species of snake one bite can kill a person within minutes sometimes hours and in order for a person to survive the bite they must receive anti venom. Anti venom is specially prepared using the venom of particular snakes. This venom needs to be extracted from a live snake which calls for the person to take the snake, provoke it, and cause it to release its deadly venom. Handlers put themselves in grave danger. They can be bitten or strangled by the snake.
