This past Valentine’s Day, my wife decided to do something special for the two of us and, for dinner, made two Ocean Jewel Gourmet Cut Lobster Tails to go with a couple steaks she also picked up.
Like most people, we don’t normally eat lobster because of the price. However, she was able to find the lobster tails for a somewhat reasonable $10 each and figured they would be something different for us, especially since we weren’t going out to eat (it was a school night). Since the $20 she spent on them was less than we would have spent at a restaurant, I was OK with this.
This was actually the first time we made lobster at home and we weren’t really sure what was involved with it. Fortunately for us, the Ocean Jewel Gourmet Cut Lobster Tails eliminated any guesswork with cooking instructions that were surprisingly detailed. They even came with pictures. As a result of this, my wife was able to make these without any issues (other than accidentally burning her hand on the glass dish she used) and they came out perfectly in our oven after only about 15 minutes.
Since the lobster tails were much cheaper than some others we had seen at the store, I was a bit concerned about the overall quality from this brand. That, however, turned out not to be an issue. There was plenty of meat inside the shell, enough for these to have been a meal even without the steaks she made.
And, as far as taste goes, I really had no complaints. I’m not a huge shell fish fan, but I definitely enjoyed the flavor. It was a little salty (which, since I don’t have lobster very often, I don’t know if that was normal or not). But, overall, I thought it made a pleasant compliment to the steak and the perfect Valentine’s Day meal.
In fact, since these weren’t overly expensive, I’m thinking about buying more of them and keeping them in our freezer for the next special occasion or when we just are in the mood for something a bit different. If you are looking for lobster tails, I recommend looking for this brand and giving it a try.
