Millionaire Marketing Pt. 3: 5 Networking Strategies to Move Up the Corporate Ladder

One important part in getting a promotion is knowing who you have to talk to before you can get it. You have to work your way up slowly before you can secure yourself a new position. Use these strategies to help you get that much deserved position you want.

1. Make a plan. Before you can make a plan, set a few specific goals that you want to achieve within the next 12 months. Then write a plan on how you’re going to accomplish those goals. Write down 20-30 things that you will do each month to help you achieve your ultimate goal. That includes getting to know certain other people in your field, making a few phone calls, scheduling or attending meetings, etc. After doing this for 12 months, you should be in a position to ask for your promotion. 2. Make a few friends. One of the things that you have to do is make friends with people that can help you achieve your goal. But before you can do that, you have to know who they are and where they’re headed. Find out the answers to these questions… a. What have they accomplished in the workplace? Their accomplishments matters because they may (or may not ) be able to help you get where you want to be. If this person has a few accomplishments under their belt, then you know they are a competent worker and they can be very useful to you. b. What do you have in common? It is necessary for you and your ally to share a common ground. This is great for both personal and business reasons. You and this person may need to actually like each other in order for the two of you to work well together. c. Who do they know? This person may know some really important people that you may need to get in contact with before you can reach your ultimate goal. d. How have they helped you? If you were inspired by any of the work they have done, let them know that. whether they have helped you or others in the field, you should recognize that and show some appreciation for what they’ve done. 3. Have something to offer. The worst thing you can do is make yourself appear to be disposable. In order to secure a place in any job, you have to actually be useful and productive. If there is any skill that you have that your co-workers doesn’t have, then don’t be afraid to exercise that skill. That skill can be as simple as knowing how to organize a desk. If you will offer to clean your boss’ desk, you can really get a comfortable position in your place of work. 4. Display leadership skills. You will not be promoted to higher positions if you don’t show that you have the ability to lead. You are going to have to become just as skillful as the people you look up to. Learn from them, and duplicate what they do, but be twice as good. It’s all about being so talented so that you can secure yourself in the workplace. This way you can move up as quickly as you want. 5. Ask for what you want. Throughout your whole 12 month plan, you will have to speak to others. So you must know how to ask for what they want you to do for them, and what you want them to do for you. you have to establish a give and take relationship with everyone so that you can be just as useful to them as they are to you.
