Madonna the Prima Donna Snubs an Adoring Fan

COMMENTARY | You’d think with the amount of money Madonna has amassed that she would take a flower, or any token of kindness, with gratitude. After all, if she wants her favorite flower, she can certainly buy it herself. Money can’t buy love and affection.

Perhaps Madonna, who recently turned 53, has still not learned one of life’s greatest lessons. When one of her adoring fans brought her a gift, he told her she was his princess and added, “Thank you so much. I love you,” according to The Sydney Morning Herald. The diva proved she is still just a material girl at heart.

The fan brought her a large purple hydrangea, which was apparently not up to Madonna’s standards. She gave an icy cold “thank you” to the fan, then rolled her eyes and turned to stuff the flower under the table. She must not have realized, or didn’t care, that the microphone was already on, as she was about to speak at a live conference.

At that point the material girl said , “I absolutely loathe hydrangeas. He obviously doesn’t know that.”

I’d hate to think if one of her children gave her something she didn’t like. Isn’t it the thought that counts? I look forward to the day, if it ever comes, that someone teaches the singer a lesson, as somewhat evil fantasies float through my mind. OK, no, not really, but it is fun to think about her getting just punishment.

The aging pop star’s rudeness is not confined to the average fan. Lady Gaga, one of the most popular current American singer-songwriters, has declared Madonna to be one of her biggest idols and said how much she loves and admires her.

Instead of appreciating the kindness Gaga bestowed on her, Madonna belittled her in an interview at the Venice Film Festival earlier this week.

She told Le Soir, “As for Lady Gaga, I have no comment to make about her obsessions having to do with me because I don’t know whether her behavior is rooted in something deep and meaningful, or superficial,” according to E! Online.

Wow. Looks like someone really needs to be taken down a notch or two and be removed from her pedestal, where she obviously sees herself far above the real world.

There have been numerous icy incidents involving the pop-star — enough to fill an entire book. She was even nasty to one of the nicest actresses in Hollywood, Julia Roberts . How is that possible? When Roberts flashed her famous smile to Madonna, and said, “Hi, I’m Julia!” The ice queen turned and said, “I know who you are,” actor Rupert Everett related in Mail Online.

Well, if karma doesn’t get her in this life, maybe she’ll come back in the next one as a homely, destitute woman everyone ignores. One can only hope.
