Local Wineries in the Raleigh/Durham Area

There are several wineries in the Raleigh/Durham area. I highlight The Vineyards at Southpoint, Chatham Hill Winery, Adams Vineyards and Winery and Duplin Winery here. The first is the Vineyards at Southpoint, located at 8913 N.C. Highway 751, Durham, NC 27713. They are open Thursdays through Sunday from 12 noon until 6pm. The wines they produce include Riesling, Vidal Blanc Mellow, Viognier, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc Mellow, Chambourcin, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Prestige. They also sometimes have wines from their sister winery, Horizon Cellars.

Chatham Hill Winery, located at 3800 Gateway Center, Cary, North Carolina, produces a different line-up of wines. They produce Rose, Rubio, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Trinity, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Viognier and Chardonnay. They also have a selection of sweet carolina fruit infused wines including Strawberry, Blueberry, Peach and Raspberry. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 11am-5pm and on Sunday from 1pm to 5pm. They can be found on the web at www.chathamhillwine.com.

In addition to having a great wine selection, they have more than ten awards for their wines. They have corporate gift baskets and holiday gift baskets available for purchase. They also provide a custom label service including personalized wine labels and private wine labels.

Adams Vineyards and Winery is located at 3390 John Adams Road, Willow Spring, North Carolina and can be found on the web at www.adamsvinyards.com. There is an $8 cost for the tour and they do allow group tours for ten or more, but you must book in advance. The family vineyards and winery has dry, semi-sweet and fruit wines. They also feature a tasting room, events room and gift shop. The winery is also accessible to people with disabilities.

Award winning Duplin Winery is located at in Rose Hill, North Carolina and can be found on the web at www.duplinwinery.com. They offer free daily tours of their state-of-the-art facility from Monday through Saturday between 9:00am and 4:00pm. They carry over 35 varieties of muscadine wines ranging from dry to sweet and their tastings are also free. They have a Heritage reward program that offers club members 25%-35% discounts on wines and gourmet food products. Contact them directly to schedule tours for more than ten people.
