Keep Love Alive in Your Relationship

Do you remember how things were when your relationship began? There was flirting, newness, fluttering in the stomach. You looked forward to hour long phone calls, date nights, and little tokens of love. However, with time it can turn into bills and appointments, television and leftovers. How can you keep your relationship from turning into something more akin to a business partnership?

Date
Get out of the house. Do something fun and different. It’s so easy to fall into a regular routine with your partner. Try to mix it up once in a while instead of falling asleep in front of the television every night. Get yourselves all dolled up for each other and treat each other to a nice dinner. Throw on some old clothes and go for a hike. It doesn’t matter what you do, just do something!

Take Action
Often in lasting relationships you can find yourself missing those little sweet things your partner used to do. It might have been little gifts to surprise you. It might have been elaborately planned meals or outings. It might have been a kiss goodnight. These small things may seem to have faded over time. I bet if you think about it though, you’ll realize that you have stopped doing those little things too. Take action! Start doing the things you used to do to show your partner you care.

Tell Them
Tell your partner you love them as often as possible. Go a step further and tell them why you’re in love with them. Instead of pointing out the dirty laundry or unmowed lawn, point out the more positive things. Tell them how beautiful or handsome they are. A few kind words can go a long way in bringing a fresh start to your relationship.

Share
Instead of relaxing separately, cuddle up together. Find interests that the two of you have in common. Discover new activities together. Share in activities with your partner that aren’t your favorite, but you know they love. Share things about your daily life with each other. Split up household chores or do them together to save work. Do whatever you have to that will get you more quality time together.

Love is exciting at first, but can become a comfortable routine taken for granted over time. Don’t let that happen to your relationship. Never take your partner for granted. Do what you can to keep your love alive and fresh forever.
